Posted by Kat on 5/02/08 Lacey thank u so much for ur posting. It's good to know that demo lessons are common in the interview process just so I can expect that from other schools. It definitely is only a small part of what counselors do on a daily basis but I feel as tho this school is really focusing on it. And because as part of my counseling program we've had no real teacher training ur absolutely right that I'm feeling extremely nervous + struggling to find any sort of confidence! Unfortunately I don't know any teachers in this district but I've gotten alot of input from teachers I know + from my supervisor who let me see 1 of her evaluations. Hopefully that helps! I'm definitely going to look for the books u suggested. I like basing my lessons on books so that would be great :) I'm thinking that I'll start a discussion about the playground rules they have at their school + maybe make a chart + then do most of the lesson on conflict resolution. I want to get the kids involved in small groups but have yet to think of what kind of activity I'd like them to do. Ugh so much to think about!! Thanks so much for ur suggestions!
