I find it interesting that a counselor would get irate - do
we teach the kids that irate is the right response or even a
    productive response?

the best answer is what school can have enough caring people
in the school to meet all the many needs that children and
families have? Regardless of what title or degree those
people have - actually I could see a great deal of overlap
between social workers and counselors and again between
counselors and psychologist. If a school had both a social
worker and a psychologist, they might be able to get away
with not having a counselor. I think between them a social
worker and a psychologist could get the job done.

But then again I've seen schools that have plenty of all
three - counselors, psychologists and social workers up the
wazoo and still nobody's getting the job done or doing their
    job very well.

I don't think it's about degrees held. I find that
interestingly narrow thinking. It's usually more about the
    person than the degree.
