Hi, Josephine! I'm a high school counselor. There have been
semesters when I taught a class in addition to being a
counselor. I loved it. It helped me get to know more kids,
in a different way. It took the main office some time to
recognize I couldn't be disturbed for counseling stuff while
teaching, but they adapted. I think a career curricula
sounds great. What about peer mediation? Those skills would
help kids and maybe you could use these students to mediate
disputes for the whole school. What about a community
service project? What about a college search (I know it's
middle school, but I think it's a good idea to start
looking). These are just ideas. Email me separately if I
can help. I'd be glad to. Good luck. Charlotte
