Thank you for your response,
Unfortunately I am in a high needs middle school with no way to
reduce counseling services for teaching - We are looking at
cutting some valuable mentoring programs and classroom guidance
lessons and groups to make room for the teaching. I have so many
questions but the one that haunts me the most is what to do with
a distraught child when the bell rings and I have to leave to
teach - we have always put the students first - one not so great
suggestion was to just leave them crying in the main part of the
counseling office until we return from teaching the class. How
do I tell the kids they will no longer have the mentoring
programs or groups? - I will have 8th graders and the class I
will teach will be 6th graders - how can I do this and not deny
my 8th graders services? Any suggestions please let me know!
Thanks, Josephine
