Post: Interview Question Dilemma: Need Guidance!

Ok, so I currently work for a non-profit educational
program as a counselor. I do college, career and personal
counseling. My goal is to get a job at a guidance counselor
in a public school. Here's the problem: I get a lot of
interviews, however it seems that once I describe the
program I work for and they realize that I do not work for
a public school, they seem to be turned off and I can not
get a job. I do the same as a guidance counselor, however I
am in a non-profit after school program. I work full-time,
though. How should I rephrase my words to not turn
    perspective school off?
