I am not a counselor, but have experience teaching in a Title
One school, and have taught students with many different
types of disabilities. My first thought is that it may just
take some time for him to feel comfortable with you. Have
you been in contact with his parents and/or previous
counselor and teachers to determine things that interest
him? Maybe you could spend some time reading to him about a
favorite book character, sport or animal. Another
thought...how about giving him some computer time with you to
begin building a relationship. Hope these ideas help...
