be constant depending on the type of district you get into. I'm
a first year counselor with 2 MS degrees in a small district.
I'm the 5th counselor in as many years. I love it. No job is
perfect, but you must decide what you can live with and without.

classroom and having a constant thumb on my back and going into
an environment where I can use the ladies room WHEN I NEED TO
and not have to HOLD IT is a PLUS! ALso, I get to prioritize my
day. If I don't get to something I know it's all going to be
there the next day. Some things of course cannot wait and it's
never the same job 2 days in a row! I love that I learn
something new each day.

have people you work under and they are in control. Sometimes
they're not always right and you know you are but you have to
keep quiet. Sometimes you may be more educated than your boss,
(which is my case for my Superintendent) but you have to smile
and remember to take it all in stride.

can choose the age/grade level you'd like to work with and
that's nice. I taught 1st, 6th and college level before
becoming a district wide counselor, so I see students from
Pre-K to 12th grades.
Best of luck!
