Most children in his situation would feel anxious and vent to
peers. How old is the child? If he is young, you could use the
Kelly Bear Feelings book or something similar to help him
verbalize his emotions and learn coping skills.
Is there an adult in his life who cares about him - A relative,
neighbor, friend, minister, anyone? He needs to know what
would happen to him if his dad becomes unable to take care of
him or dies. So, perhaps locating and connecting that someone
would be helpful.
