Hi all!

I am an Australian quaified teacher and social worker. I have experience in both fields and am wanting to move to New York (I know, I know).

I'm starting completely in the dark, so just looking to gather as much information as possible. I'm just gonna list a bunch of questions and any info you have would fill me with joy! ;)

1. How difficult is it to get a job as a school counsellor in NY? 2. What's a realistic salary for me to be expecting? 3. What's the best way to go about applying for jobs? 4. What's the best time of year to apply? (for example, if I could organise a brief trip over for interviews and such) 5. In case there are any employers out there, what is the chance of being realistically considered as an international applicant?

Lacey First off you would need to obtain your MA in School Counseling that meets NYS standards for school counselors. However, I don't think the job market is great for school counselors in NY.
