Re: Changing from High School (9th grade) to Middle School
    Posted by Michael on 6/25/08

    Greetings Lisa,

    How goes it?

As per your question on switching from 9th to 6th, one word
    comes to mind... RUN!!!

Everyone I know seems to have the same opinion about 6th
graders. I teach 8th and it scares me some times how much
more mature my students are versus the 6th graders.

I guess it depends on where you teach, but each time I am
asked to cover a class of 6th graders I am amazed at how
brazen they are at such a young age.

Not trying to scare you, but I am glad that you are asking
around and will be surprised to hear opposite views.

(On a side note, I think 5th is the most popular year to
teach. I have always wondered what happens over that long
    summer...)

Hope this helps a little, Michael
