I didn't read the thread you wrote about, but one thing you
have to consider - teachers ARE people. We make mistakes, we
laugh, we cry, we have families. We usually do the right
things, but sometimes we don't. Some teachers have attitudes
too. But, think about it. When do you have attitude? It's
when you need to toughen yourself up. It's when you've been
embarrassed or hurt. Teachers do that too. I know that I've
been terribly hurt by students' behaviors. I've cried more
than you care to know. And you know what? I wouldn't cry or
be upset if I didn't care. You see, teachers get into
teaching for a reason. But, sometimes students make it so
hard that we forget WHY we got into teaching, and we lose our
tempers or cry or do other emotional things. Gee, just like
our students, because we ARE human beings with feelings and
emotions. We are not robots, programmed to always act
professionally, kindly, and with caring. That's what we
strive for, but frustration and anger sometimes come through.
So, when you are acting all proud of yourself for getting to
your teacher like that, think about how YOU would feel if you
were treated in the same way. Karen (8th grade teacher)
