Re: Ideas for early childhood special education classroom
Posted by pchykeen on 5/08/08

I teach an inclusive preschool classroom with special needs
children and typical peers. I think my classroom looks very
much like most other preschool rooms would look. I might
just have a few things different than a typical room. You may
want to check out some of the specialty catalogs on line and
add some sensory things in your quiet area. And don't
forget that for some autistic children, you may need a
individual workstation. Also, remember that to be set up
for a child with a physical impairment, you would want your
classroom set up with an open floor plan rather than broken
up into many small centers so they can navigate easily with
a walker or wheelchair. I'm sure you have thought of most
of this already. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
