Re: Graduation Yes or No
Posted by Karen PK GA on 5/16/08

I have to agree with Donna. I just don't think graduation is
appropriate. Graduation is nothing but a parent-pleaser, it's
really not for the kids. I would much rather let the kids enjoy
their last few days of school in a relaxing, fun way, than
stress them out with practice, practice, practice. Last year,
our Pre-K kids were included in the Kindergarten "graduation",
against my will, but I fussed about it and we are not in it this
year, thank goodness. Some children don't like being on stage in
front of crowds of people, and last year I noticed those
children reacted in two ways: some just froze and looked scared,
and some got so nervous, they acted downright silly and
misbehaved on stage in front of everybody. This year, we
celebrated with a trip to the aquarium and a picnic in the park.
If songs must be performed, I think it's better to have parents
come to the classroom where children are comfortable to watch
them sing and dance to the songs they have done during the year.
