Re: Demo Lesson
Posted by Karen PK GA on 5/19/08

For farm animals, you could read the book "Barnyard Banter" by
Denise Fleming, and have the kids say the animal sounds with
you all throughout the book. You could also use clipart to
make flannel board pieces of the animals in the book, pass
them out to the kids and have them come up to place them on
the board when you get to that animal in the story.

For frogs, you could read the book "Frog and Toad are Friends"
by Arnold Lobel. Not the whole book, but just the chapter
called the Lost Button. I usually do this in small group with
real buttons, but if you are doing it at circle time, you
could make some large buttons with posterboard or foam board.
As you read the story, you eliminate the buttons that are not
Toad's button, until at last you find the right button.

Two other good interactive books off the top of my head are
"Jonathan and His Mommy" (have the kids walk/move in the same
ways Jonathan does) and "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus"
(the children interact with the pigeon by telling him "no" and
    the pigeon answers back).
