Heidi Head Start WI

Hi Diane- My year is going really well. I have an awsome group. I
am teaching 4 year old Kindergarten in my center as well as doing
all the head start stuff. It has been really fun up till this
week - I have an ear infection and I have conferences today so I
had 20 assessment summeries to write as well as 13 4K report cards
but it is all done and I am ready.

We had a preview of the Im Learning in Aug and our first session
last friday and another one on Nov 13. I really like the program.
I have been looking at the website and the Head Start Body start
website also they have some great extra ideas.

I am going to Washington DC in Nov to the NAEYC convention. fully
paid by my agency. I guess I am very lucky that way-we are
encouraged to go to conferences and take classes. I will also
begoing to the WI Head Start Conference in Feb.

I am on a committee to choose a new curric and assessment tool. I
suspect it is just a way to apease those of us who have to use the
tool by giving us a chance to have a say in what we will be using
next year- I am pretty sure the management people have already
picked CC but they are willing to let us look at other things
before we make a decision.

I have not heard about the "cultures of thinking" maybe that was
last years go to idea. This year it is Im learning. Next year who
knows-it is always changing. I have to say I do love Head Start
and am fortunate to not have a lot of managers out my way- I do my
thing and not worry about them most of the time, it is better that
way. I dont have alot of problem kids or problem staff so they
just leave me alone.

Well I am off to do 17 parent teacher conferences today- had one
yesterday and need to get ahold of an interpetor for 2 next week.
