    Tough spot you're in. One idea is to watch those 3 carefully
    and try to step in before she does. Another thing would be to
    talk to her ahead of time - something like, boy those guys can
    be tough to handle. Maybe I could help out by taking care of
    them and you just go on ahead with the class. That will be
    less disruptive to the others and give you a chance to move
    along with those that are ready.

    I've been in both positions. As the teacher, it's hard to stop
    and "discipline" when the others are all staring at you waiting
    for the next word or two you have to say. As the assistant, I
    loved it, because I COULD handle those kids needing extra help
    and I had the time to do it, without slowing down the class.
