Re: Anyone still teach The Chocolate War?
Posted by Not an appropriate book for my suburban school on 2/16/08

I know there is another thread about the use of the f-word in
the book, but what concerns me are discussions of things that I
would not be comfortable discussing with students such as:

"The exhilaration of the moment vanished and he sought it in
vain, like seeking ecstacy's memory an instant after jacking off
and encountering only shame and guilt."

This is not a book that I could justify to a parent. I'm not
saying no teacher should teach the book, just that I personally
    could not do it.
