    I have taught The Chocolate War in eighth grade and the kids seemed to love it.
    Actually, I taught it in Lit. Circles and tried to steer it towards the boys when I did
    the booktalk. I also sent a letter of permission to read to the parents with lots of
    reviews and a synopsis so there would be no problem with the subject matter. Or
    at least, I would have a leg to stand on if a parent decided it was too "mature"
    for their student. I did have a parent who did not want their boy to read the
    book, so you never know.....
