Re: Novels that STUDENTS love?

In sophomore year, they read "That was Then, This is Now" by S. E. Hinton and "To Kill a Mockingbird," and they seem to enjoy these. My freshmen generally enjoy "The Giver." My juniors do independent novels and some popular choices are books by Tim O'Brien, Catcher in the Rye, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, Fallen Angels (those are some favored by boys); girls tend to like some of the contemporary books by Anita Shreve, Anna Quindlen, Jane Smiley, etc.
