Re: HELP, English teachers! I have $2000 to spend on -
Posted by (also)Mattie on 5/17/08

I'm not an official English teacher, so these may not be
brilliantly written. They are offered in a "Get them reading"
    vein...

    How to Lie with Statistics.
Perhaps "Lies My Teacher Told Me"?
More or less anything by Richard Feynman
For biographies - biographies or autobiographies of famous
computer people (Bill Gates, Steve Wozniak, etc.)
My son really enjoyed a book about the the rise of Silicon
Valley in general. Alas, I cannot remember the title.
(Maybe) Parkinson's Law and The Peter Principle
Lots of youngsters enjoy the Darwin Awards books and the "Worst
    Case Scenario" books.
Lots and lots of students are really interested in animé, so if
you could find something about that it might be popular.
    .
Oh and I third Fast Food Nation. :-)
