Good question - it feels fun to be successful with tasks. A
user friendly classroom environment would be the first step
and if you're asking this kind of question, I'm guessing you
have a good relationship with students and there's a good
    rapport in your classroom.

If they can't spell by 10th grade, something's up and my
other guess would be these kids have learning differences.
We weren't all meant to spell well - it's just a fact of
nature - but that's why Spellcheck is here. Grammarcheck can
help with grammar and punctuation too.

don't give oppressive tests - make them soft tests where
success is within reach. There are some spelling games but
I'm not sure how much 10th graders are willing to play games.

    Good luck.
