Re: how to plan my day better?

This is my third year in 10th grade.
I like to start with grammar/punctuation sentences as warm-ups
on Tuesday and Thursday and a journal write related to our
reading on Monday. Wednesday is a reinforcement activity, i.e.,
write a sentence using two vocab words or write a sentence
explaining why a comma belongs here. Friday is a minimum day
with shorter period. That's the day for the spelling/vocab
test, so they're doing last-minute studying while I'm taking
roll. After the test, I squeeze in 10 or 15 minutes of word
roots, which shifts to exit exam practice in the month or so
before the test.
Yes, you must mix up activities, but students appreciate
routine. The previous poster (sorry, I forgot to note your
name) had good suggestions. Everything meets the standards and
has a purpose, but you can use different methods to master the
skills.
It feels overwhelming the first time around. As your routine
solidifies, you and the students will feel comfortable and more
learning will occur.
