Re: Your Question

If your alternative school is like ours, it is a part of the county
system. It is for students from the county who, after a tribunal
hearing, were required to attend alternative school.
Since that is the case, I'd look on your county website to see if
they have curriculum links. Ours has a curriculum map for each grade
level that we are required to follow during the year. That portion
tells us the order to follow, as well as the standards to cover in
each unit. We, then, are required to plan the unit using our
resources (novels, lit. book, grammar activities, writing activities,
etc.).
In addition, I'm sure that there are other English teachers at your
alternative school (obviously someone is currently teaching them
Language Arts). Stop by and talk with them. Ask them about the
curricular materials that are available, which literature textbook is
used, if there's a curriculum map to follow (and if so, where to find
a copy) and ask hiim or her for help.
