Re: now go nonfiction - many areas to investigate
    Posted by marjoryt on 1/05/09

Your students will be doing a combination of regular library
research and online research. Together, they could prepare a
magazine about the "technology" of the Titanic.
    1) marine archaeology
    2) robotics
    3) deep sea pressure
    4) navigation
    5) icebergs
    6) radio telegraph
    7) ship building techniques then and now
    8) preservation of relics
    9) the lawsuits
    10) equivalent size of Titanic objects
    11) museum and auction business of artifacts
    12) sonar

By the way, one of the ship whistles was brought up,
restored, and hooked up to blow again (the new system
couldn't generate the same power as the Titanic's steam
engine). The restored whistle was recorded; you can
    probably find it on google.
