    Post: Creative Writing Course Organization
    Posted by: kerouacteacher on 6/19/09

I will be teaching Creative Writing to HS upperclassmen in
the new school year. This will be my first time teaching
the class. I have tons of ideas and have the benefit of
having a teacher friend who taught it last year as a
resource. I have some questions about how to organize this
semester length class. Meaning, I'm not sure if I should
split up units according to genres, according to the 6
traits, or according to some other concept that I haven't
thought of yet. I'm wondering if anyone else has taught a
Creative Writing class and how they set up the class in
scope and sequence. The great thing about teaching it is
that there is not a standardized test or curriculum that I
have to follow. Thank you in advance for your tips.
