I organize mine into units on literary elements and
occasionally genre. Each unit consists of reading examples,
both professional and student-written; practice with short
pieces; and then writing a longer piece. Here are some of my
units:
Characterization

Theme
Point of View
Fantasy: Fairy Tales and Superheroes
Imagery and Sensory Details
Word Choice, Setting, Tone, and Atmosphere
Incorporating Dialogue
Symbolism and Figurative Language
