Don't forget 40 Developmental Assets. Popular in California.
Read every word of the website. See if the school newspaper is
online. If there's not a link on the website, go to myhsj.org,
and search there. Search the local newspaper website too. (Did
you figure out that I advise the school paper and I'm a former
reporter?)
I agree that willingness to do extra-curricular activities is a
plus, although it's better if first-year teachers stick to
academics.
