If there's any way to buy InDesign, you and your students
will accomplish so much more. You can get it below retail
from various resellers. CS3 includes Photoshop, Illustrator,
and a wealth of other resources. All are used by
professionals, so your students would be learning lifelong
skills.
Repeating what I wrote to Manbitesdog:
I'd highly recommend going to www.jea.org. That's the
Journalism Education Association (of which I'm a member).
Also, www.hsj.org, High School Journalism sponsored by the
American Society of Newspaper Editors. It contains links to
nearly 3,000 high school papers plus tons of lesson plans.
You can post your paper there for free and anyone can read
it. Both sites have a wealth of information. And check out
SPLC.org, the Student Press Law Center.
