    The previous idea is great. Additionally, you may want to have
    students come up with a song or song list that would be their theme
    song/s. They can connect the message of the song with their life
    or a particular experience. You can also have students/groups
    create a CD or play list for a short story. They can explain how
    the songs relate to the main theme.

    I have also used clips from videostreaming (Discovery website) and
    The Twilight Zone that include the same themes as stories we have
    read to help students make connections about theme among different
    works.
