Think about, and then discuss with her, how much you want
her to be involved in discipline issues, and, if she's
bilingual, how much and when you want her to use the
student's primary language. It seems like those are two
areas in which problems can occur quite easily if that's not
discussed ahead of time.
Also, some schools have policies stating that paras or EAs
should only be working with students, not running off copies
and grading papers (etc). Personally I think that's the best
use of a paras time - direct contact with students. Find out
if there's a policy or expectations already set regarding
what you can and can't ask the para to do. If it's up to
you, this is something else you can think about and discuss
with her before the school year starts.
