Post: Picture books a hit with middle schoolers!!

    Posted by Jenny on 8/29/08

I'm new to my job as a middle school ESL teacher (grades
6,7,8). Someone had mentioned "reading" picture books to
kids this age. I have done it the past three days in my
classroom, and it has been the best part of our day! I read
Good Dog, Carl on Day 1, and used my own words, my own
actions. I asked questions of the kids often (What will
happen next?), and it was just so enjoyable! The next day I
read Bad Dog, Marley. :) What a hoot! Today was Where the
Wild Things Are. I just wanted to encourage everyone out
there to try it if you're not already. Also, I've signed my
class up for library time each week, too, so our librarian
will pick out appropriate books and read them...can't wait
    for that either.
