Our district started using Hampton Brown's High Point about 3 years
ago. It's geared towards middle schoolers and we were using it
primarily with high school students, but at the time it was the
only thing out there for intervention. We're in the process of
selecting new textbooks now and have been extremely impressed with
High Point's successor Inside (grades 4 - 8) and Edge (grades 9 -
12). (Hampton Brown has since joined with National Geographic, by
the way.)
Edge is gorgeous! The reading selections are high interest and
obviously intended for high school students, and I think you'll
find all of the other things you're looking for to. I taught High
Point in the classroom for 2 years and really liked it. I'm in an
office position now, but I would love to teach Edge.
Good luck with your decision,
Michelle
