Re: K ESL hides in bathroom
Posted by: East End Long Islander on 9/21/09

I'm sure time will make this child more comfortable ... I used to
work as a parapro in a self-contained spec-ed class, and one of my
2nd graders used to hide in the bathroom in the room, just to avoid
work ... not uncommon (although to me, quite gross considering it's
a teeny toilet room no window and no ventilation) ....

But I know with kindergartners and first graders, it's either more
discipline or more comforting -- so either method works, but for a
non- English-speaker, I think more comfort will help.

    Good luck!
