    Re: job availability

My BA is in illustration from an art school, but I got my
masters in TESOL. I've been teaching ESL for about six years
    now.

Some things have changed since I got certified: Highly
qualified teacher status is one, you need to make sure you
pass all the state tests in addition to your masters.
Second, many districts want their ESL teachers to be dual
certified, that is elementary ed AND ESL or secondary English
or other content AND ESL. These days, finding an ESL job
with just ESL certification is harder and harder. I went
back to school and am about to get another masters in Reading
    to make myself more employable.
