I've been teaching ESL for 29 years in N.J. This year, we have
been asked to "push-in". I did it for three days and walked out.
I told my principal to "write me up for being insubordinate".
She won't do it though..LOL Now, I'm pulling out all of my 34
ESL students and teaching them the way I was trained to teach
them.

About 20 years ago, I wrote to the State Board of Education here
in New Jersey about this same situation. It was because of me
that kids in this country less than 2 years didn't even have to
take any English tests. This "law" lasted just a few years and
now we are back to the old ways of TEST TEST TEST. This is
un-American and unjust. My suggestion to all of you is to write
to your local Commissioner of Education and also to Arnee
Duncan, who is Obama's Commissioner of Education (or whatever
he's called). Write to them until they get tired of hearing from
you. Write to them until you get an answer. You are doing a
dis-service to each and every one of your students if you "go
along with the program". WE are the trained professionals and we
know what is best for our students.
