Re: ESL Placement in Elementary Classroom

Despite my earlier posting about our grouping many ELL students in one room
... I have to add I am not a teacher (I'm a para, a former business person)
... with only hands-on training and occasional workshops in the school. I
personally think the students do much better mixed in with non-ELL
students, and learn faster that way ... but it's not my decision. And those
in our strictly bilingual classes are kept there with parental permission,
so as not to lose their native language and to have the constant extra help
from the bilingual teacher. It'll be interesting to see what the outcome
is, after a couple more years of this method.
