Post: NY Teachers scared of posting
Posted by Concerned on 8/11/05
On the New York teachers' chatboard, a poster recently
stated that the DOE (New York City Dept. of Education) can
identify who is posting. He was concerned that his IP could
be read by others. Some of the responses stated
that "anyone" could discover his IP by using the "view web
source" option on a browser. The initial fear was triggered
when the poster got a message from the administrator of the
chatboard.
Is there some way you can clarify who can read the IPs? I'm
not scared but others are. My suspicion is that there's
only an automated admin, and the reply to the poster was
triggered by wording in one of his messages.
