I'm not eligible for the Teacher Forgiveness Program because I had an outstanding loan WHICH WAS NOT IN DEFAULT and I was still going to school to be a teacher. I teach in a low-income system, at an Alternative School, and am a Special Education teacher...I meet 3 requirments, just not the most important one evidently. Anyway, my advisors at my college never told me about the Perkin's Loan. I found out about it, myself, the last semester of my school. It helped a little, but not much.
