Hi,
This is the second year I'm using CAFE as part of my reading
instruction. It's nothing we haven't taught before, but it gives the
kids and me the language to talk about the process of reading. I
start the school year off with the CAFE and follow the Sisters' basic
format/structure/sequence. Their pacing is way too fast for us, so I
slow it down and do as much as I think the kids can handle. Woven in
between CAFE lessons are the other things I need to teach, including
our units of study (TC-modified.) I'd be happy to answer any specific
questions or concerns you have; not sure what you're looking for,
exactly. BTW, I don't currently use the Daily 5, tho I may add parts
of it next year. With the new CCSS and intensified testing this
year, I can't add too many new things to the mix.
