Re: Pauvre Anne
Posted by Stephanie on 5/05/08

    Andrew,

I'm reading Pauvre Anne right now with my French I students.
We do work on one chapter each day, but some of the reading
is done in class while some other chapters are read at home.
I try to approach each chapter differently to keep the
students interested. For instance, I read part of chapter 1
outloud while the students were listening with their books
closed and then I asked them comprehension questions. Then
they read the second part outloud, taking turns, and we
worked on their pronunciation. Chapter 2 was read at home
and we worked on a questionnaire in class. I included both
comprehension and vocabulary questions in the questionnaire.
Then I added some grammar in class (we've looked at the
imperative and the negative form so far). After reading
chapter 3, each one of my students became a character of
that chapter and we did some role plays. Tomorrow, I'll have
half the class read chapter 4 and the other half read
chapter 5, and then each member of each group will summarize
their chapter to a member of the other group. Once we're
done with chapter 5, I'll divide the class into 4 groups and
have each group make a drawing to illustrate one of the
chapters we've read (2-5). Then each group will present
their chapter to the rest of the class showing the
illustration and adding a few sentences (1
sentence/student). Finally, when we're done reading all 9
chapters, we'll do a webquest about Belgium in the computer
    lab.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

    Stephanie
