I will be a first year French teacher starting in August '08
and I will be enrolled in a 2-year Teacher In Residence
college program to obtain my teacher certification while
teaching full-time during the day (1 class every Monday
evening). I was looking at having to pay for the 2 year
cert. program from my paycheck every month, but a new
governmental grant is now available which may help pay for
it. It's called the TEACH grant. You can check out the
details at
http://studentaid.ed.gov/PORTALSWebApp/students/english/TEACH
.jsp
You can find alternative teacher cert. programs at your
local colleges/universities or go to the website for the
Department of Education in your State and you'll get all the
info you need on those programs there. Then you could check
with the college to see if they are working with the TEACH
Grant program. I will start classes on Monday and will find
out more about the grant then. Feel free to email me if you
want more info!
Bonne chance!
