    Hi,

I have 10 years experience with the DF series, 24 in all.
My combined middle / high HS follows a middle school plan of
45 minute periods in a traditional 180 day year.

Using the "Nouveau" chapters we cover very well:
    French I Lesson 1 -24 (Units 1 - 7)
French II skips the review and does lessons 1 - 27 plus lesson
    31 taught in October.
French III skips the review and covers units 1 - 9
French IV uses En bonne Forme and Trésors du temps (Half of
    each book.)

Teachers on the block system cannot cover as much material. I
have taught the block. About one third of the conent from my
    program cannot not covered.

Regadless, I would not keep using the same book in the next
    level to finish it.
The DF books review in the first half of the book the core
    content of the previous year.

As for the suggested pacing, I found that I was between the
second two that are suggested in Bleu. I spend about 5 to 6
days per lesson. The initial lessons of Bleu are shorter and
the later ones take longer, 7 days. In Blanc, again it's
    about 6 days per lesson.

A tip for saving time in order to teach more: Give a test on
every two lessons and only minor 10 min. quizzes on vocabulary
    and grammar prior to that.

If you are not on the block schedule, then you may be using
too much classtime for student projects and feature length
films. Most of the student book activities can be done orally.
Use homework for writing practice on most book activities.

At the least, force yourself to cover Bleu Unit 6 in Fr. I.
Then cover Blanc Units 1 -5 and in
Rouge units, 1 - 6 at the very least.
This is only if you are not on the block.

I will be glad to send you copies of my lesson plans for Fr.
II and III that I have as Word documents.

    Cordialement,
    James
