Mancos is located about halfway between Durango and Mesa Verde in Southern Colorado. I was stumped trying to find a place to stay when I recently drove through that area, with the motels in Durango quoting $169/night. (I remember paying $45/night when in paris and heck, I wasn't in no stinking durango but Paris) I pushed on and out of desparation, I saw an old style inn on main street in a sleepy old town, and when I asked, I was quoted 30 for a room with a shared bath and 50 for a room with private bath. The proprietor said that he likes to cater to teachers and germans. (???? I don't know either). Mancos has a few nice restaurants, is a very small town, quiet, and the rooms were very clean, and nice. It is located about 30 miles from Durango, 15 miles from mesa verde, and is a great bargain. (I got a break on my room price for promising to plug the inn so here is my plug.)
