Novel, "100th Day" isn't celebrated all over by any means, but
many schools--usually elementary--take note of it.
All it is is the 100th day of school for that year.
Usually ours is in Feb.
Some teachers plan their lessons for that day around it--
estimating, writing, whatever. Many have a jar, or jars, full
of 100 of something so kids can get a visual of how much 100 can
be.
I thought of postcards, then decided to try and get them from
all over, so kids here could get their little minds OUT of our
fairly isolated area and would begin to see that there IS a
world Out There.
I plan to type up labels to put under each, then will laminate
them--maybe in one long line, not sure yet--and hang it all on
the hall wall. Our bldg is like an L...the short end is the
office, teacher's room, kitchen and gym, the long end is all the
classrooms and the library. Kids lined up for lunch would be
able to see the whole display as they walk down the hall.

The gals in the office are getting a kick out of seeing all the
postcards coming in, and I bet the mail person in the district
office is beyond curious about it all! :)
