Post: somebody up there likes me...long, sorry
    Posted by: cjode on 10/31/09

First, the good news: I had a CT scan done and the tumors
on my liver are shrinking; some seem to have faded so much
you can hardly see them on the picture! Side effects are
causing some concern- cracked fingers. Doc said he may give
me a chemo break at Thanksgiving to improve their soreness
and risk of letting germs in, try to heal a bit. He said I
may even have a break at Christmas.......so, I guess things
must be going on in order to stop for a treatment, which I
kind of asked. Doc had a big smile and agreed. It was a
good day for news but a rough day for treatment.

Now the bad: on the way home, about a mile and a half from
home, my son and I were asleep in the car. Husband swerved
to miss a small boulder in the road, we hit the dirt, slid
and I woke up as we began to flip. The car rolled over
completely and then stopped. We took inventory, all appear
ok, the twelve year old in the back seat was very shook up
(as we all were.) The car is wrecked. Fortunately we have
made friend here and one of my student's dads turned around
and gave us a ride home. Then he told his sister who was
just closing the store and she came by, got her flatbed
trailer and came to pick up the car, took it to their house
so it won't be a spectacle in our neighborhood for
Halloween. We will try to deal with that and the purchase
of a new-used car in the next few days.

I guess somebody up there likes me...gave me a jolt after
some bad thoughts I had been thinking on the road home. I
was feeling sorry for myself thinking I did not want to
spend the rest of my life getting chemo every other week; it
is just not a fun gig. But, seeing the alternative flash
before my eyes last night gave me greater respect for life.
My oldest son could have been an orphan yesterday. Thank
God my husband is a quick thinking excellent driver.

    Thanks for listening GAs.......
