Re: Maggo, about lupus pain

Lupus causes joint pain, much like arthritis. By the end of the school
day, my knees, hips, and back are in misery. My hands don't want to
cooperate, which makes writing on the board very difficult. The doctors
keep telling me that this will get better, once the Plaqulenil has time
to get into my system good. The bad thing is, I can have a full flare
up again, anytime, without warning. When I was in full flare up, every
joint in my body was swollen and felt like it was on fire. My hands
were so swollen and painful, they were completely swelled shut. I
couldn't hold an eating untensal, I couldn't even drive. On top of all
that, I was completely covered from head to toe with a bright red rash.
This was all going on when the doctor told me there was nothing wrong
with me! Thank God for my dermatologist, who recognized immediately
what was going on. She is the one encouraging me to retire and take
care of myself.
Another symptom of lupus is fatigue. I have never felt so tired in my
life. That is what is so discouraging. I was walking 2 miles a day,
going to our gym and working out. Now, I can't.
