Re: ROTC students and discipline
Posted by Rodeo on 5/09/08

The (married) ROTC head at our school was kind of a pervert. A
student teacher this year complained to her master teacher and
then the principal because he was hitting on her. He used to
hit on me too but I just brushed it off.

I had a couple ROTC students who were really great. I think it
did good for a couple of them because they were really proud
about practicing for drill competitions. I think it gave one
of them a very positive focus because he was so proud to be
    the drill leader.

But I also had a couple who were a real nightmare. I told the
ROTC head guy about it since I knew him since he always came
by my class to hit on me. I asked him if he could talk to the
kid or ride him or whatever it is they do in ROTC to encourage
him to change his misbehavior in my class. It didn't work.

I don't think ROTC changes the students that much. They bring
their morals and personality into ROTC and keep it I think. If
they go into ROTC as a thug then they are a thug who joins the
military. If they go into ROTC as a respectful, hardworker,
that is how they leave ROTC.
