Post: Failing Student Question

Since you are teachers, I want to know what you would do in my position. My son is in 10th grade and stopped doing his work this semester. His grades have dropped to Ds and Fs. He is not following the plan his administrator helped him draw up for finishing up the year with passing grades. He has offered numerous excuses for why the work isn't done. He lies to me and to his teachers about it. He has been on medication for depression and ADD for several years and does not seem depressed (says he is not when asked). He is not on recreational drugs and has friends any parent would approve of. He comes home and pretends to do work, but doesn't finish it or doesn't turn it in if he does. He is a good writer and is writing his own book right now, which is what I think he is doing some of the time he is at school. He still thinks he will pass. Summer school, as you know, will only replace two classes. On the side, I am very involved with the school and this is embarrassing. I know I shouldn't care what others think, but it still hurts.
