    Re: New Schedule/No Prep Time/HELP!
    Posted by Rebecca on 8/25/08

Personally I hate 7th hour prep (much more productive in the
morning) but I dealt with it all last year. What I do is plan
further ahead so that I have a weeks worth of lessons ready
(plus all the materials). It takes a Saturday or day before
school starts to get ahead to begin with but then after that I
spend Wednesday and Thursdays planning for the next week (and
so often stay a little later just on Thursdays). This way I
do not have as much to prep from day to day and can focus on
correcting or whatever little things need to get done.

As the year goes on, you will also get more efficient with
your time. I have always found that it can be a little bit
difficult to get used to a different schedule especially the
year of having a new prep.

Also, make use of any help you can get. My last school had
someone who would copy stuff for us. I also had 2 TAs that
did some basic correcting, organizing of my room, filing, etc.
I don't know if either of those are options but if someone is
willing to help take advantage of it.

Beg, borrow and steal for your new prep so that you are not
creating everything from scratch. If there is another teacher
teaching Spanish III, try doing some of your planning together.
