I actually like the idea of having the student fill out a
form. I had three colleges this past year that gave specific
instructions for what they wanted and asked that the
envelope be sealed with my signature across it (I assume to
prove that the student had not altered it after I had given
it to them.) I think the week notice is a good idea, too,
because I can't count the number of last-minute letters I
have written. Those procrastinators tend to get my standard-
issue recommendation which isn't as personal as I would like.
